Picky Eater???

So recently I have decided to start making Lawson's baby food. I have heard that is much cheaper and of course healthier for them! So my mom gave me an early mother's day present which was the cookbooks I had wanted and some baby food storage containers to put it in.
So on Wednesday, Lawson and I headed to the new Publix they just opened and I had a list of fruits and veggies I was going to make. I bought broccoli, zucchini and apples. I thought I would start off small.
So I put the little guy down for his nap and went to cooking. I felt like Julia Child in there. I was steaming, pureeing, boiling and peeling! I was so proud with what I had accomplished! For $2.50 worth of broccoli I was able to make 24 oz of food, for $2.00 I was able to make 16 oz of zucchini and I broke even on the apples! The true test was going to come when I fed it to Lawson!

Now he is not a picky eater by any means but the performance this kid broke into when I fed him broccoli was worthy of an Oscar! He didn't like the applesauce either! He gagged, spit it out, threw it up...the whole works! What I can figure out is it is the textures. I didn't puree it down to water so it was a bit thicker. He was like that at first with peas because they are a little on the thicker side. So I am going to keep it in the freezer and hopefully when he gets some teeth, the textures will not bother him as much!

I am not giving up though! Next time I will just make sure the food is like water! Compared to the baby food that I have bought it defintely is a little bit thicker! Oh well!! I told Mitch that is probably the first of many times he will tell me he did not like what I cooked!!

Georgia on my mind....

So this past weekend, my cousin Kylie was getting married in Colbert (outside of Athens) Georgia. We had planned on leaving Saturday to drive over and stay the night, but when my dad's trip to Germany was cancelled due to the volcano we decided to go over Friday night to his house and split the the trip up! He lives outside of Atlanta so it worked out great for us. We got over there Friday afternoon around 430p and hung out with family! It was a nice and relaxing night!

The next morning we got up and traveled the rest of the way to Athens for the wedding! I went and enjoyed an afternoon pampering myself with a much needed pedicure with my sister and then rushed back to get dressed for the wedding.

It was a great wedding! The bride was beautiful, reception was fun and it was so great to show off my little guy (who was a hit) to all my family!! My mom took Lawson back to the hotel with her so Mitch and I could enjoy some adult time with my cousins!

On Sunday morning we got up and enjoyed breakfast with my family before we all went our separate ways!

Lawson was awesome on the trip! He slept like a champ in his pack and play and was such a trooper! He laughed and carried on the entire time and only got cranky when he was tired!

All in all it was a great weekend!!

Blast from the Past

So today Mitch had the first ever alumni game for Chelsea High School. It has been so long since the last time we were at the high school and Mitch finally got to play on the field that he raised money to build back in high school! The alumni played the high school team and WON 4-3!!!! The boys still got it!
It was a blast from the past in more than one ways for us. We saw old friends from high school, their families and we also saw some old friends from college. The head baseball coach is a friend of Mitch's who he played baseball with at UAB and his wife and I went every where together back in college. We were all in each other's wedding! So it was a great day for catching up and getting to see how everyone is changed!

Unfortunately they are not all as young as they thought they are, because Mitch is already saying he feels really old!

It was a gorgeous day to be at the ball field! But like an idiot I did not put on sunblock and am a little toasty! Oh well...I needed some color anyway!

The new and the old!

Been Awhile.....

It has been a while since I have posted something. We have been busy with wedding showers, surprise birthday parties and let's just face it...who wants to be on the computer when you have gorgeous weather to play in!
We had a wonderful Easter weekend with family. We went to church Sunday morning for 9a service. It was so wonderful to be there with our little boy...a true gift from God! Lawson got an Easter basket from his Nonna and Granddeddy, MaMa and PaPa, and Poppy and GiGi. Can we say spoiled?!?! We had our families over to our house and we grilled out beer can chicken and just enjoyed the beautiful day!

Lawson will be 7 months this week. Hard to believe. He is now sitting on his own....really well! Still have to watch him because sometimes gets overly excited and will loose control! He started out only doing it for a few seconds, then seconds became minutes and now he can sit there for a long time. Mitch walked in the other day and wondered when he had gotten so good because literally the day before he was really wobly at it. It is amazing how fast they catch on to things and how independent they become. What next.....crawling? I am SO not ready for that one. On one hand it makes me happy and proud he is learning and accomplishing these mildstones but on the other I just want him to stay a baby! Despite all that.... I am one proud Momma!

Here a few pics....
