Lawson's First Beach Trip

So this past Thursday, Mitch was going to Dauphin Island for an inshore fishing trip with some work people. So we decided to make a long weekend out of it! Lawson and I headed down on Thursday to the beach house and Mitch joined us Friday afternoon!
Friday we went and met Laney, an old friend from high school, in Foley and then Lawson and I headed to outlet mall. After Mitch got home on Friday we went to eat at Guy Harvey's for dinner and called it a night fairly early.

Saturday we got up, fed Lawson and loaded up the car with all the stuff we had to take! I wish I would have taken a picture because you would have thought we were moving to the beach. We took the tent, beach chairs including Lawson's, 2 beach bags, cooler and Lawson's float. I carried Lawson and the float, and Mitch had the rest!

We put everything up and got situated and sat Lawson on a blanket...and he crashed! It was time for his AM nap anyways! Then after he woke up, he ate his lunch and bottle and then proceeded to eat the sand for dessert! He LOVED the sand! He LOVED the beach! He just was so taken in by everything and trying to figure everything out. We then took him to the water and he just squealed when the waves would come up to him. We attempted to take him in the ocean but the waves were a little too big and we didn't want to traumatize him. So we took him back up to the tent where he played in the sand, threw the sand and of course ate the sand! He then took nap #2 and when he woke up...we loaded back up and went to the pool!

Today, my sister, Lawson and I are heading back down there for memorial day weekend! This is what I love most about summer....trips to the beach!

I remember last year in July...being at the beach, 7 months preggers and miserable, and Mitch saying to me "this is our last year at the beach...just us"! And I wouldn't have it any other way!!

Sick Boy!

So Lawson started running a fever on Thursday of last week. I called the doctor and they said it was probably because he was cutting his teeth so if he wasn't better by the next day to come in. When I got him up the next morning his fever had broken and he seemed to be acting fine. We just kept giving him tylenol and motrin because he still ran a low grade fever....again we contributed that to teething.

Sunday night he started coughing really bad. As Monday progressed his nose became a faucet and the cough got worse. He also was acting really whiney and not even holding him was enough to get him to stop crying. All this is TOTALLY out of character for him. So again, I call the doctor and get an appointment for the next morning.

I took him to the doctor and turns out the poor baby has an ear infection in each ear :(. The cough and runny nose can be somewhat contributed to the infection but he said it was probably viral and to give him some children's mucinex. So we got an antibiotic, ear drops and some new cream for his face where he has eczema. The cream we were first prescibed was $250 after insurance! The new bottle $4. Much better!

So after a full day on the antibiotics he acts a little bit better. So hopefully he will be better by this weekend because we are going up to Decatur to see Mitch's family.

I have to say that I do feel very fortunate that he is 8 months old and this is the first illness we have had. So I can not complain too much.

Happy 8 Months to my sweet Lawson!!

Lawson is 8 months old today! He eats 3 meals a day (breakfast, lunch and dinner) and still takes 4 bottles a day! He luckily is still taking 2 naps and boy when you miss one of those naps it is no fun for ANYONE!! He is sleeping 11 1/2-12 hours a night and I love it when he wakes up in the morning because he is so happy to see you and gives me a big hug!!
He has gotten his first tooth (still trying to get that pic) and is doing a lot of babbling. He is rolling everywhere. He has not quite figured out the crawling thing (which I am not rushing). His Nonna and Granddeddy got him a walker and he loves it...but can only go backwards and gets really mad when he runs into something and can not go further. He loves to give me kisses...he grabs my face and pulls me right to him and slobbers all over me...and I LOVE it!!
He just experienced his first time in the pool and we are looking forward to taking him to the beach (if the oil is not there) at the end of this month!

Happy 8 months to my big boy!!

Mother's Day Weekend

On Saturday, we went to my mom's house to take Lawson swimming for the first time (pics to come later)! He did so good! He just chilled out in his floaty and splashed in the water with daddy! Then on Sunday, we went to church and then went back over to my mom's house to celebrate Mother's Day with my family and Mitch's family! It was such a nice day! We grilled hamburgers and lounged by the pool!
I got a gift card to go shopping for our cruise in June, Mitch and Lawson got me a new bedspread and my mom got me the cookbooks I had been wanting to make Lawson's food and some storage containers. All in all, it was a GREAT weekend!!
God has blessed me in so many ways! I have a wonderful family, the most wonderful husband in the world and a healthy and beautiful boy who is the center of our world! I am so fortunate to be able to stay at home with him and watch him grow everyday!

I have a frame in his bathroom that some dear friends of mine got me when I had Lawson. It says "We loved you before we knew you-even when it was just the hope of you-we loved you." We tried for 3 years to have this little boy and I have to say looking back on it....it was worth the wait! How lucky I am to be Lawson's mommy! He has brought more joy to my life than I could have ever imagined!!

Hope everyone had a wonderful mother's day!!

A Tooth and a Word!

So Lawson has FINALLY gotten his first tooth! I swear he has been teething for the past 3 months! Everyday as the drool would drip down his face I would look in his mouth (which he didn't like) and no tooth! On Saturday, Mitch was feeding him and said " I think the spoon just hit something that was not his gum." So I went over to him and opened his mouth...and there it was beneath the gum...a tooth! So this morning we looked again and it is almost through the skin..and now we have the one next to it coming in!!!! I should have know it was coming because his dirty diapers have been EXTREMELY DIRTY!!

He also said his first word, "da-da", for the first time! He says the "mmm" sound all the time and I have been really practicing with him on saying "ma-ma" so of course his first word would be "da-da". I heard it first and then Mitch heard! He said he is really not going to count it until he looks at him and says it! I count it so it is going in the baby book!!

Everyday he amazes me with all the new things he can do!
